Coats, NC: Mr. Glenn Dupree King, age 84, passed away at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Dunn, NC on Saturday, December 9, 2023 after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Rev. Randy Beasley will officiate.
Glenn was born on August 2, 1939 in Johnston County, NC to the late Haywood Alton and Mary Dupree King. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson, NC where he served as Past Commander. Glenn was a farmer for many years, did paint and body work on cars for a while, and retired from the N. C. Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant in 2003. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed touring 49 of the 50 states in the U.S. on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Being an avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, grilling, and golfing. He was a friend to all who knew him and was always willing to help others any way he could.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Creech King; a son, Tim King and wife, Angela of Coats; two beloved grandchildren, Garrett King and Kaylan King; brother, Jerry King and wife, Peggy of Four Oaks; sister-in-law, Clara Creech of Benson; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM Friday, December 15, 2023 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Next Step Paralysis Recovery Center in Orlando, Florida, 277 Douglas Avenue, Suite 1006, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 to benefit Kaylan King’s rehabilitation.
