Henrietta Hood Creekmore

Henrietta Hood Creekmore, 89, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 22, 2025. Born December 15, 1936, in the Meadow Community of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Almon B. and Vida Smith Hood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James H. Creekmore, Jr. and her sisters, Ada H. Clifton, Nellie H. Griffin, and Ruby H. Adams.
Henrietta, or as her students referred to her “Mrs. Creekmore”, was a devoted educator, having retired after over 30 years of service as a math and science teacher with the Johnston County School System. She was known for her steadfast character, dedication to her students, and deep love for her family.
A private funeral service was held Saturday, December 27, at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, North Carolina, with the Reverend Lee Colbert officiating.
She is survived by her daughters, Mitzie C. Isenhour and husband, Larry, of Smithfield, and Julie McCurdy and husband, Alex, of Clayton; and her three grandchildren, Leah Isenhour and fiancé, Mitch Strader, of Reidsville; Brandon McCurdy and wife, Jordan, of Clayton; and Lauren McCurdy of Clayton.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Phyllis, Trish, Dawn, and Rene for the loving and attentive care shown to her in her home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Johnston County Animal Protection League at PO Box 607 Smithfield, North Carolina 27577.
