Inez Wilson Creech

    Appie Inez Wilson Creech, age 90, died Wednesday May 3, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living in Smithfield. Born June 21, 1932 in Smithfield, NC to the late Carlton and Ruby Wilson, she was the widow of Worley Arlon “Preacher” Creech and was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Wilson and Charles Wilson both of Smithfield.  Inez was a retired administrative assistant with Burlington Mills in Smithfield, and a long-time member of Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Wells and Rev. Terry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Creech’s Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Selma. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.

    Surviving are her daughters, Hope C. Long and husband Bill of Raleigh and Linda C. Blackmon and husband Ricky of Selma; brothers, Eugene “Skint” Wilson of Kenly and Earl Wilson of Pine Level; sister, Gladys W. Edwards of Selma; grandchildren, Alicia Ellington (Dave), Lindsay Dayton (Scott), Nicole Page (Brian), David Long (Amy), and Mary Vintinner; eight great-grandchildren, Jake, Lyda, Ellee, Collins Appie, William, Rowan, Justin, and Blake; two great great-grandchildren, Jake and Evelyn; along with numerous fur babies.

    You could always find Inez working in her yard, cooking and baking in the kitchen, or spending time with her family, friends, and “children” all of whom called her “MaMa” or “Iney”. She loved all those around her with every ounce of her soul and made everyone feel welcome. There wasn’t a person she met that she didn’t make an impact on.

    The family also wishes to recognize and express a heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses at Brookdale Senior Living of Smithfield, as well as Gentiva Hospice for their care.
