Raleigh – Jackie Paul Price, age 83, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC. He was born in Johnston County on December 20, 1939, to the late John Paul Price and Marjorie Jernigan Price. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Moore Price, and daughter Paula Anne Price.
The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, NC, on Thursday, March 30, from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the chapel and interment in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Price is survived by three siblings: Jerry Price of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; Teresa Hargis of White Lake, NC, and John Price of White Lake, NC; grandson D. Ross Smith, Jr. and his wife Kelsey of Thornton, Colorado; great-granddaughter Evelyn Hazel Smith and a soon-to-be great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Price was a proud Navy Veteran, serving from 1957 to 1961, including duty as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the U.S.S. Dixie. He had a long career as a long-haul truck driver and was also a long-time member of Samaria Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.
