Smithfield – James Billy Davis, age 87, passed away Thursday May 2, 2024 at Barbour Ct. Nursing and Rehab in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on November 26, 1936 to the late James Gray Davis and Stella Price Davis. In addition to his father and mother, he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Leon, and Harvey Davis, as well as two sisters, Louise Smith, and Florence Braswell.
A memorial service will be held in the Sun Flower room at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehab at 2:00 PM on Monday May 6, 2024.
James is survived by two special nieces, Charlotte Kinley and husband Bobby of Smithfield and Grace Knox and husband David of Clayton. Mr. Davis is survived by many other nieces and nephews also.
Mr. Davis was known for his work in the floral business which he enjoyed dearly as well as making cakes for weddings and birthdays. When not working, he loved to take his mother on trips to the mountains, especially Cherokee.
