James Douglas “Doug” Brown

James Douglas “Doug” Brown, age 67, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday evening, February 10, 2026 at his home in Oriental. Born May 18, 1958 in Johnston County he was a son of Hilda Capps Brown of Smithfield and the late James Everette Brown.

Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman who found great joy in the outdoors, especially when sharing those moments with his sons. Whether in the woods or by the water, those times together meant the world to him.

Above all else, Doug’s greatest pride and happiness were found in his family. He cherished every moment spent with Trish, his boys, and their families. Nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Doug was a faithful member of Arapahoe FWB Church in Arapahoe, NC.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. A private graveside service will follow Friday at Oakland Heights Cemetery in Smithfield with Rev. Ricky Miller officiating.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Patricia “Trish” Brown of the home; sons, Matthew Brown and wife Ashley of Princeton and Dylan Brown and wife Lauren of Holly Springs; brothers, Wayne Brown and wife Cindy of Benson and Tim Brown and wife Vicki of Smithfield; grandchildren, Aubree, Maddie, Noah, Dawson and Colson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Arapahoe FWB Church, P.O. Box 117, Arapahoe, NC 28510.
