James Larry Barbee

James Larry Barbee, age 71, passed away on February 10, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 11, 1955, in Johnston County, he was the son of the late James Edward and Doris Willoughby Barbee.

Larry was a devoted member of Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon for 35 years and treasurer and was a member of the church choir. He was also an owner of Barbee’s Seafood in Smithfield. Larry loved going to the beach and fishing, enjoyed playing golf, and had a passion for collecting coins. He excelled at many sports growing up, his favorite being football and basketball. He was the proud father of three daughters and a loving PopPop to five granddaughters. Larry cherished teaching his girls how to steam and shuck oysters, creating memories they will forever hold dear.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday February 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery.

Larry is survived by his wife, Reandy Earp Barbee; daughters, Jamie Barbee Martinez and husband Anthony, Kristy Barbee Parrott and husband Adam, and Miranda Barbee Lewis and husband Jacob; granddaughters, Ava Martinez, Marilynn Martinez, Sophia Martinez, Violet Parrott, and Whitaker Lewis; and sister, Debbie Barbee Cooper and husband Ricky.
