James Melvin Carroll, 73, of Kenly, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born January 27, 1949 to the late Melvin and Pausy Wood Carroll. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Melba Jean Strickland Carroll.
James was a U.S. Army Veteran and tool and die maker for Tarheel Tooling before his declining health. He was a long time member and deacon of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church of Kenly.
James is survived by daughter, Gayle Evans and husband Glenn Evans of Princeton. Grandchildren, Mackenzie Evans (David) of Princeton, Heather Chappell of Washington, D.C., Amanda Biedekapp (Scottie) of Princeton and Zach Evans of Concord; great grandchildren, Matthew Biedekapp, Madison Biedekapp, Miranda Hardison, Samantha Johnson and Cameron Johnson; brother, Milton Carroll and wife Rose of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Joyce Carroll of Clayton, N.C.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Bethany Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 8980 Old Beulah Road, Kenly, NC 27542. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
