James Paul Capps

    James Paul Capps, 85, of Princeton passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Johnston Health of Smithfield. He was born March 22, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Jessie Paul Capps and Betty Louise Anderson Capps. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Glenn Capps; sisters, Patricia Turnage, Louise Creech, Mary Ann House, and Hazel Massey.

    James enjoyed fishing and trapping. He attended Johnston Community Church of God. He loved his family dearly and so enjoyed spending time with them.

    He is survived by a son, James R. Capps (Robin) of Bath, NC; daughter, Barbara Ann Mitchell of Princeton; grandchildren, Tabetha Vilchis (Gil) of Princeton, Johnny Mitchell of Selma, Michael Mitchell of Goldsboro, Jesse Capps of Goldsboro, Kayla Stephenson (Gray) of Four Oaks, Russell Capps, Jr. (Brandi) of Grantham, Sissy Avalos of Selma, Krissy Walrath (Dwayne) of Goldsboro; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Janie Taylor; brothers, Bobby Capps, Frank Capps and Larry Capps.

    The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 7, 2024 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Pastor Eugene Hartley officiating and comments from Pastor Jesse Hartley and Pastor Donald Massey. Burial will follow the service in Princeton Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm Friday prior to the service at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
