Janice Faye Lassiter

Janice “Faye” Lassiter, age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at UNC Johnston Health in Clayton. Born on September 24, 1943, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late William and Eula Mae Triplette. Faye was preceded in death by her husband, David “Phillip” Lassiter and her son, Mike Lassiter.
Faye was a longtime member of New Light Advent Christian Church and, in her later years, joined Wildwood Free Will Baptist Church in Garner, where she faithfully attended with her son, Bill.
She graduated from Smithfield High School and later from East Carolina College. She married in 1963 and went on to have a fulfilling career in education. Faye taught for many years at Old Cleveland School, Princeton Elementary School, Cleveland Elementary, McGee’s Elementary, and a school in Converse, Louisiana.
Faye loved vacationing with her family and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers play football. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She deeply loved her children and faithfully attended their games and activities while they were growing up. But above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wildwood Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will follow in Oakland Heights Cemetery.
Faye is survived by her son, Bill Lassiter; grandchildren, Dillon Lassiter and Dusty Lassiter; great-grandchildren, Sofia and Scarlett; brother, Ricky Bagby; and sister, Susie Stanley.
