She is preceded in death by her late husband, Marvin Southerland of Smithfield; a sister Tamra Collins Mckinley of Milford, Ohio. Jehrana spent most of her working life in the medical field mostly caring for the needs of elderly and disabled people. As the young wife of Pastor Southerland, she ministered in music along with him in various churches in North Carolina. She sang with a gospel group, Canaanland Quartet, and ministered as a soloist at various functions with the Church of God.
Jehrana was the light of our lives and her passing is particularly grievous considering her failing health situation which finally took her from us. Her engaging personality endeared her virtually to everyone who met her. Her infectious smile and laughter was so much a part of her, and that drew even more people to her. Her faith in God was prevalent in her life and heart and she said many times and very often that she believed God could do anything. We share in her declaration and her abiding faith. We are doubtless about her new address with her Heavenly Father, and we have the hope that we will see her again. She was devoted to our family, especially to daughter Amber and her two adoring granddaughters. Her passing has left a great void, not only in our lives, but in the countless lives she touched along life’s journey.
