Jennifer Dare “Ginger” Hamilton Whittenton, 67, of Dunn passed away Tuesday evening June 20, 2023, at Betsy Johnson Hospital.
Ginger was born March 15, 1956, in Harnett County daughter of Garry C. Hamilton, Sr. and the late Jessie Suggs Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Garrett Grantham.
Ginger was a 1974 graduate of Erwin High School and a graduate of Campbell College. She was a lifelong educator and retired from Triton High School.
Ginger was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, and was proud to be called Gigi by her nieces and nephews. She also loved Oak Island and working in her flower garden.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Erwin Memorial Park.
She is survived in addition to her father, her daughter, Elizabeth Dare Whittenton and, fiancé, C.J. Hudson of Dunn; granddaughter, Lillie Rose Hudson; brother, Chip Hamilton, and wife, Michele of Dunn; sister, Jill Grantham of Erwin; nieces, Erin McGill of Fayetteville, Lindsay McGill of Southport, Haley Grantham of Benson; nephews, Clint Hamilton of Dunn, Houston Hamilton of Raleigh; great-niece, Haven Grace Grantham and her fur baby, Diddle.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
