Jerome Dean Wooten

Dean Wooten, 84, of Newton Grove, passed away early Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Pinecrest Gardens Assisted Living in Lillington.

Born on December 13, 1940 to the late James Howard McKinnon Wooten, and Annie Louise Strickland Wooten.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothula Sessoms Wooten; brother, Jimmy Wooten; sisters, Charlene Wooten and Brenda Carraway.

Dean is survived and loved by his sisters, Faith Nethercutt, Jane Parker, and Beverly Carruth; brothers, Wallace Wooten, Thomas Wooten, Kent Wooten, and Ricky Wooten.

He is also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Dean enjoyed farming, operating heavy equipment and working in his shop. He was known to be a jack of all trades, who could do anything from welding to carpentry.

He was a member of Roanoke Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove. His Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Shady Grove OFWB Church Cemetery. Mr. Kent Wooten will be officiating.

The family would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to the Staff at Pinecrest Gardens Assisted Living in Lillington as well as Pruitt Hospice staff that took incredible care of him during his time of need.
