Clayton – Jerry Dan Jackson, age 74, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in his home of
Clayton. Jerry was born in Wayne County on October 18, 1948. He was a son to the late Ivey Leo Jackson
and Hazel Amelia Barbour Jackson. In addition to his parents; Ivey Jackson and Hazel Jackson Hill, Jerry is
preceded in death by brother, Denwood Jackson; sisters, Linda Jackson Graham and Judy Jackson
Aycock.
Jerry was a member of Johnston Union Free Will Baptist Church in Clayton where he served as a
Deacon for many years. He had a strong passion for music from a very young age and was a talented
singer. Jerry enjoyed playing the guitar, the drums, and the piano, and was a part of many bands over
the years. He enjoyed gospel music and loved to use his God given talent to sing in church and the
nursing homes. Anyone who knew Jerry loved him, as he was always willing to help others and never
met a stranger. Jerry was a kind and loving man who loved his family dearly. Jerry retired with forty-four
years with Coca-Cola Inc, where he also went back to work after a kidney transplant donated by his
oldest brother, Elmer Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 2:00p.m. in the chapel of Parrish
Funeral Home in Selma with the burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove. The family will
receive friends on Wednesday, November, 30, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gale Edwards Jackson of Clayton; daughter Barbara Michele
Jackson Benson and husband Brent of Clayton; sister Kaye Stewart of Dunn; granddaughter Miranda
Harper Cooper and husband Chase of Princeton; and great granddaughter, Brynlee Kate Cooper of
Princeton.
