Jerry Dwight Ashley Jr.

Jerry Dwight Ashley, Jr., age 72, of Erwin, NC, passed away at Absolute Care Assisted Living on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Dwight was born in Erwin on February 22, 1954, where he resided most of his life. He was a teacher at Harnett County Schools for 32 years. He also was a lifelong member of the Erwin Methodist Church where he loved singing in the choir and being the youth director. He was also named Erwin’s Man of the Year in 1979. He was a member of Harnett County ARC, where he ran the Jolly Day Camp for special education and also formed the Big Brother/Big Sister Club at Triton High School.

Dwight was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Ashley, his parents, Dorothy and Jerry Ashley and his grandparents, Eula and John Ashley and I.W. and Lizzy Tyndall. He is survived buy his daughter, Tiffany Ashley, his ex-wife, Debbie Ashley; his sister, Terry Ashley; his niece, Ann Marie Moore, his step-mother Deb Ashley, his step-brothers Andrew and Guler Ashley, his sister-in-law Lisa and Joe Lamari, and nephews Joe and Kelly Lamari and Charlie, Cait, and Reid Lamari, his aunt Gertie Duke and cousins.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date per Dwight’s request. Memorials may be made to the Erwin Methodist Church.
