Selma – Jimmy Wilson Barbour, age 81, passed away Saturday January 25, 2025 at his home in Selma. He was born in Johnston County on April 11, 1943 to the late Alonzo Barbour and Addie Lee Lassiter Barbour. In addition to his father and mother, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Faye Raines; grandson, Richard Conklin III.
The family will receive visitors at Branch Chapel Church in Selma on Thursday January 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be conducted in the church on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Eric Narron officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Barbour of the home; son, James Wilson Barbour of Princeton; daughter, Susan Jernigan and husband Tony of Selma; brothers, James Alton Barbour and William Barbour; sister, Janie Barbour; grandchildren, Victoria Johnson and husband Burke, Julia Turnage and husband Chris, Will Barbour, Brooke Barbour, Reid Barbour, Josh Barbour and wife Marana, James Jernigan and wife Taylor, Anthony Jernigan; great grandchildren, Caroline Johnson, Preston Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, Jackson Barbour, Kyndall Barbour, Juliana Rivera, Layla Hilliard, Hunter Hilliard, Sophia Motley, Liliya Barbour; church family and many other friends.
Mr. Barbour was a member of Branch Chapel Church in Selma and served on the Four Oaks and Thanksgiving Fire Department proudly for over 40 years. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 141 Selma.
