John Allen Wiggins

    Clayton – Mr. John Allen Wiggins, age 86 received his ultimate healing on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House of Johnston in Smithfield, NC. In his last days, he was surrounded by his loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00pm at Tippett’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 2530 Shotwell Road, Clayton, NC 27520 with Pastor Derek Cominskie to officiate.

    John was a loving, devoted, kind and compassionate man of God, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and friend. He was so proud of his family and talked about them every opportunity he got. John was born on August 21, 1937 in Harnett County, NC to the late J. Luther and Maude Wiggins. He was the oldest sibling to his three sisters.

    He was retired from the Winn Dixie Warehouse and spent his retirement days with his wife of 62 years, Ruth. He was the oldest male member in attendance at Tippett’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Clayton, NC, where he has attended and faithfully served for the past 39 years. John loved his family and his church family. He never met a stranger and loved helping others any chance he got. He enjoyed singing, classic cars, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.

    Survivors include his wife Ruth Stephens Wiggins; daughters: Barbara Woolard and husband David, Teresa Ormond and husband Bill; grandchildren, Susan Price and husband Travis, Justin Ormond and wife Alexis, Auston Seth Ormond and Lee Ormond; great-grandchildren, Delaney Durham, Brayden Price, Kelsyn Price, Merlin Dax Ormond and Elric Ormond; great-great grandchild, Blakely Mae Futrell; sisters, Nancy Edwards and husband Billie, Brenda Tart and husband David and Jackie Hart.

    Flowers are welcomed, however the family suggests donations be made to SECU Hospice House of Johnston, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
