Surf City, NC: Mr. Johnny Braxton O’Neal, age 79, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service.
Mr. O’Neal was born on July 9, 1945 in Wake County, NC to the late Percy Abner and Ruth Winstead O’Neal. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Pete O’Neal, J. P. O’Neal, Clinton O’Neal, Mamie Kirkland, Lib Pate, Marion Manning, Margaret Hicks, Faye Winstead, and Mavis O’Neal. Mr. O’Neal was a minister for 18 years and owned and operated Town and Country Roofing Company for over 50 years. He loved the beach, dancing, and going to the mountains. Mr. O’Neal was a huge family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was well known for lending a helping hand to his family and friends. He was very outgoing and also loved the company of a woman.
Mr. O’Neal is survived by his children, David Braxton O’Neal and wife, Denise of Indiana, Johnna Rose Creech of Smithfield, Patricia Michelle O’Neal-Romero of Raleigh, Heather Nichole O’Neal of Durham, Danielle Kayla Broughton of Angier; grandchildren, William Braxton O’Neal, Candace Brooke Terrell, David Braxton O’Neal, II, Nathaniel Peyton O’Neal, Elizabeth Nicole Creech, T.C. Creech, John Stanley Creech, Jalyn Grace Walters, Julian Reece Romero, Aiden Riley Romero, Eli Xavier Broughton, River Emmett Broughton; 14 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
