Johnny Leroy Watson, 73, of Clayton, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born January 4, 1952, in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Leroy Johnny Watson and Martha Parnell Watson. In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Watson; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Davis.

Johnny was a loving husband and father. He was a devoted member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life. Johnny retired from Grifols after 24 years of dedicated service. In his free time, Johnny loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. He was also a passionate sports fan. Whether it was football, baseball, or college basketball, he cheered on his favorite teams — the Dallas Cowboys, the Atlanta Braves, and the UNC Tar Heels — with enthusiasm and loyalty. Johnny will be remembered for his kind spirit, his love for life’s simple pleasures, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda Davis Watson; son, Johnny Wayne Watson of Clayton; grandchildren, Johnathan Watson (Leslie) and Elizabeth Watson; great-grandchild, Ryan Leo Watson; siblings, Jimmy Watson of Selma, Timothy Watson of Smithfield, Robby Watson (BJ) of Clayton, Ronnie Watson of Virginia, and Phyllis Horton (Leon) of South Carolina; mother-in-law, Irene Williams of Clayton; brother-in-law, Billy Davis (Susan) of Selma; sisters-in-law, Wanda Benson (Mark) of Clayton and Susie Cavalier (Chris) of Clayton; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:00am, at Knollwood Cemetery, with Rev. Buford Longwith officiating.
