    Johnny Ray Allen, born on May 19, 1946, in Johnston County, left this world on February 20, 2025, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a beloved figure, known not just for his hands-on skills but also for his generous spirit and unwavering faith.

    In his early years, Johnny found fulfillment as a farmer, cultivating the land he cherished deeply. Later, he honed his expertise as an HVAC technician, earning respect across the community for his dedication and skill in his craft. Throughout his life, he embraced hard work and the satisfaction it brought.

    Johnny was a man of many passions. He loved to fish, often finding peace on the water where he enjoyed the tranquility and solitude of nature. An active member of his church, he drew strength and joy from his faith and the community he found within it. Helping people whenever he could was a hallmark of his character, and many have benefitted from his kindness and support.

    His family was central to his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Allen, with whom he shared six cherished years. Johnny will be fondly remembered by his stepdaughter, Renee Allen, and his grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Samantha, and Christina; step-sons, Allen Shallington and Billy Ray Shallington. In addition, he leaves behind four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.

    Johnny’s familial roots also included his brotherly bond with his sister Faye Beasley, who supported him through life’s journeys.

    He is preceded in death by his son, James Anthony Allen, and his sisters, Judy Dunn and Sue Beasley. The loss of his first wife, Patricia Sue Allen, and his parents, Earnest Allen and Rachel Baker Allen, were significant milestones in his life that shaped his path.

    His funeral services will take place on February 25, 2025, at Oliver’s Grove Baptist Church in Four Oaks, North Carolina. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. David Brantley.

    Johnny Ray Allen lived a life rich in passion, service, and love, and his spirit will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
