Joy Jeanette Renfrow, 63, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cumberland County on November 30, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Merritt Gibson and Dorothy Daughtry. In addition to her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her husband, Roland Renfrow.
Joy is survived by her children, Candice Renfrow, and Colton Renfrow and wife, Maranda; grandchildren, Preston Phillips, Harper Phillips, Finleigh Ward, Ellie Renfrow, and Emilee Renfrow; brother, Ricky Gibson and wife, Lisa; step-mother, Sher Gibson; and step-brother, Sam Floyd.
For many years, Joy worked as a teller at Southern Bank in Kenly. When not at work, Joy loved riding motorcycles and spending time at the beach. When she got together with her Goldsboro girls and her pool girls, a fun time was had by all. Having a heart of gold, she had a profound love for her animals.
Nothing was more important to Joy than her family. Her love for them knew no bounds and each moment spent together with them a memory she cherished forever. Joy will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
A memorial service to celebrate Joy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church. A private inurnment will be held in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
