Joyce Mitchell Williford

Princeton – Juanita “Joyce” Mitchell Williford, age 86, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Smithfield Manor. She was born in Johnston County September 29, 1939 to the late Woodrow Mitchell and Emma Elizabeth Hood. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her late husband, Nathan Williford; life long companion, Hubert “Buddy” Braswell; twin sister, Janice Grey Mitchell.

The family will receive visitors at Tee’s Chapel Church in Brogden on Thursday September 10, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow in the church on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Greg Braswell, Tim Braswell and wife Vickie, Gail Braswell Romero and husband Fabian “Shorty”; brothers, Billy Mitchell and wife Diane, Woodrow “Nubbin” Mitchell and wife Brenda; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Joyce was a simple woman and enjoyed the simple things in life. She had a love for her children and grandchildren like no other. She also loved her small companion Tatum “Tater bug”.

She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her two brothers and their wives. She loved their outings to Myrtle Beach and their weekly meals, and looked forward to each one. She was a woman of faith and a longtime member of Tee’s Chapel FWB Church. She was a kind and sweet soul that will truly be missed.

The family will receive friends at the home of Tim and Vickie Braswell.
