Joyce Thompson Pittman

Pine Level – Joyce Thompson Pittman, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026 at UNC Johnston Health in Clayton. She was born on August 1, 1944 to the late Herman Debro Thompson and Nona Starling Thompson. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Ray Thompson and wife, Dorothy; sister, Frances Edwards and husband, Walter Ralph.
The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Wednesday April 8, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Scott and husband Michael; precious grandson, Caden Scott.
Joyce was a member of Stevens Chapel Church for many years and enjoyed being with and traveling with her family as well as dining in nice restaurants. Everyone that knew her remembers her as being sweet, kind, and a friend to many who always wore a beautiful smile.
She always wanted to look her very best which meant having her hair done just so with her jewelry on. Her one and only grandson Caden was the apple of her eye and brought immense joy to her.
In recent months Joyce loved to watch the television show “Gun Smoke”, whilst crunching on Lemon Drops.
Joyce worked 41 years with the State of North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Services as a job placement specialist.
After retirement, she worked at Johnston Community College as career development specialist for nine years.
