Judie Byrd Walsh

Benson, NC: Ms. Judie Byrd Walsh, age 78, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Avendale Residential Care Home in Rolesville, NC. Memorial Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Rev. Billy Olsen will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.

Ms. Walsh was born on May 2, 1947 in Harnett County to the late James Edison and Maude Opal Miller Byrd. She graduated from Benson High School in 1965 and continued her education at East Carolina University in Greenville and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. Ms. Walsh was a retired school teacher teaching at South Johnston High School and West Johnston High School. She loved to travel and lived in many different places including, Greenville, NC, Chicago, Virginia Beach, and in Italy. Mrs. Walsh loved to bowl and enjoyed her special pet Sheltie Collies.

She is survived by her brother, James Edison Byrd, Jr. and wife, Martha; nephews, Jay Byrd and wife, Allison and Shaun Bryd and wife, Courtney; great-nephews and nieces, Abby, Jacob, Nathan, and Brek Byrd.

In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
