Selma – Judith “Judy” Carol Pittman Hocutt, age 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 18, 2023, in UNC Johnston Health, Smithfield. Born June 20, 1942, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late Ishmael Pittman and Letha Stallings Pittman.
Judy attended Pine Level High School. Judy attended Harmony Baptist Church in Bathune, South Carolina for many years but was most recently a member at Hickory Crossroads Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister. Judy was a woman of strong faith and a good Christian woman. She loved her family at Chic-fil-A, Smithfield, which was her last job before retirement.
After spending 52 years in South Carolina, in August, 2018, Judy’s long time wish was fulfilled when she finally made it back home to Pine Level. She was so happy and enjoyed every minute to its fullest until June 28, 2020, when she lost her husband of 59 years. She is preceded in death by her husband James Ruffin Hocutt, brother Billy W. Pittman, brother-in-laws Ronnie Woodard and Glenn Evans.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Price Cemetery with Rev. Duane Evans officiating. The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Carol” Hocutt, of the home and son, Willie James Hocutt and husband Skip of Selma, brother Mark Pittman (Betty Jo) of Pine Level, sister Alice Pittman Woodard of Pine Level, sister-in-law Pansy Hocutt Evans of Kenly, and many loving nieces and nephews.
