With great sadness, we announce the death of Kathy Sloane Passer, 63, of Clayton, NC on August 18th, 2023 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born on June 29th, 1960 in Niagara Falls, NY to her late parents, Mac and Florence Horowitz.
Due to her father’s occupation, Kathy grew up across many parts of the world, including India, New Zealand, Brazil, and Jamaica. She returned home to New York for her Senior year of high school at Rondout Valley High, where she met and married her husband Greg Passer in 1977. Shortly after, she took a job at Channel Master, now known as Global Skyware, where she would remain employed for the remainder of her years and eventually become the company’s most tenured employee. Kathy and Greg moved to North Carolina in 1984 and welcomed a son, Ryan, into their lives in 1993. He became their pride and joy.
Along with her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brothers Kalman and Edward. She is survived by her husband Greg, her son Ryan, her daughter-in-law Rachal, and her newborn granddaughter Beatrix, whom Kathy was able to meet just days before her passing. She is also survived by her brother Andrew and sister-in-law April, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Kathy was an incredibly loving person to her family and friends. Thinking of her immediately brings to mind her beautiful smile, her genuine kindness, and her comforting nature. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Research.
