Larry Thomas Colville, 82, of 20 Edna John Court, Dunn, NC, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Betsy Johnson Hospital. Larry was born August 8, 1941, to the late John Thomas Colville and Mary Lloyd Colville of Erwin, NC. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Jewel Colville.
Larry graduated from Erwin High School in 1961. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force where he was stationed in England, Libya, and, upon returning to the United States, Florida.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Larry spent his time in various endeavors, including meat cutting and selling insurance. His current favorite activity was being the “Tool Man” at the Flea Market. Larry spent his last day doing what he loved in his booth at Harper’s Flea Market Mall in Smithfield. Besides being the Tool Man at the flea market, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and watching movies. He was also an accomplished boat builder.
Larry is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Opal Kathryn Strickland Colville; his daughter Kathy Colville
Larrison and husband, Bill, of Dunn, NC; his son Chadrick Thomas Colville of Dunn, NC; and the light of his life, a granddaughter, Savannah Jewel Lackey of Erwin, NC. Larry is also survived by a step granddaughter, Jessica Larrison of Knightdale, NC; two step great grandchildren, Meliane Larrison and Seth Larrison of Sanford, as well as two special grand dogs, Bella and Jupiter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Skinner & Smith
Funeral Home located at 905 Erwin Road, Dunn, NC. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Burial will be private.
