PRINCETON – LaVerne Thompson Rose, age 82, died Saturday, August 19, 2023 in UNC Johnston Health of Smithfield. Born April 23, 1941 in Johnston County to the late James Elmer and Eunice Braswell Thompson, she was the widow of Howard Ray Rose, to whom she was married for 63 years and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erica Dawn Rose on May 10, 2023.
LaVerne was an office manager for Belk’s in Goldsboro for more than 30 years and she was a longtime member of Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 in Tee’s Chapel Church with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving are her three sons, Richard Rose and wife Laura of Four Oaks, Danny Rose and wife Karen and Barry Rose and wife Lori all of Princeton; brother, Jimmy Thompson and wife Bonnie of Princeton; sisters, Glenda Rose Polk and Sue Dupree and husband Joe Burney all of Pine Level; grandchildren, Danielle Rose Brown and husband Scott, Ryan Rose and wife Rebekah, Rebekah Rose Downs and husband Drake, Travis Rose and Jordan Rose and wife Brandy and five great grandchildren, Haley Rose, J.D. Downs, Stella Rose Downs, Sawyer Helms and Charlotte Helms.
