Lawrence Samuel Richey

Lawrence Samuel Richey, age 87, of Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away on April 23, 2026.

Born on October 17, 1938, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Larry lived a life defined by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and went on to build a successful career in sales, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Larry found joy in nature and valued time spent outside. He will be remembered as a devoted friend and a man with a sharp sense of humor who brought laughter to those around him.

Larry was preceded in death by his son, Rance. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Beverly; his daughter, Kristin Watkins (Hartwell); his granddaughters, Holly Vodicka (Aaron) and Hannah Altizer (Evan); two great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorene Jinks; and many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.

His legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
