Hookerton – Laymon “Wayne” Davis, age 69, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, in his sister’s home of Selma. Born, March 22, 1954, in Johnston County, he was a son of the late Laymon Davis and Alice Jones Davis. He is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Oscar Davis, sister, Brenda Gail Roberson and the love of his life, JoAnn Deans Davis.
Wayne was a hardworking, tough, old school guy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outside. Wayne would help anybody in need, and he loved all of his many friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Wayne will be laid to rest at Dean Cemetery in Selma on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
He is survived by his four sons; Linwood Hall (Sheri) of Snow Hill, Mickie Hall (significant other, Lynn Nobles) of Ayden, Laymon Wayne Davis Jr. “Jay” (fiancée Tricia) of Kinston, Brandon Davis “B.J.” (Amber Heath) of Walstonburg, brother, Tony Jones (Carolyn) of Nashville, sisters; Nancy Creech (Danny) of Selma, Faye Davis Smith of Selma; grandchildren, Linwood Hall Jr., Jared Hall, Ryan Hall, Megan Hall, Shane Hall, Landon Hall, Christina Hall, Seth Davis and Spencer Davis, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of friends and his dog, Twinkie.
