Leon Junior Hudson

Smithfield – Leon Junior Hudson, age 82, passed away Monday May 11, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on July 29, 1943 to the late John Casper Hudson and Clyda Bell Dunn Hudson. In addition to his father and mother, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Lee Edward Hudson; sisters, Gertrude Howell, Vergie DeLoach, Myrtle Pilkington and Hilda Palmer.
The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday May 17, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in Hopewell OFWB church on Tuesday May 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow the service in Knollwood Memorial Park.
Leon is survived by his wife, Grace Langdon Hudson of Smithfield; son, Tony L. Hudson and wife Melissa of Smithfield; daughter, Dana H Jones and husband James of Clayton; grandchildren, Kaylee Jones and Braxton Hudson; granddogs, Trappy and Gracie.
Mr. Hudson was a member of Hopewell OFWB church in Smithfield and filled a multitude of roles within the church. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, part of the Men’s Brotherhood, founder of the Spiritual Outreach Radio Program and was the church clerk for 60 years.
He retired from Sylvania (over 20 years) and Eaton (over 20 years). He also worked with Carolina Realty for 41 years. He had his own lawn care business (Leon’s Lawn Care) and all while continuing his meticulous care of his own place.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for all the staff at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield (Johnston Health Foundation at P.O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577), or to Hopewell Original Free Will Baptist Church (5835 Black Creek Rd, Smithfield, NC 27577), in remembrance of Leon J. Hudson.
