Four Oaks, NC: Mr. LeRoy Smith, age 89, of Juniper Church Road passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at The Enclave Assisted Living in Clayton. Graveside Funeral Service will be held-10:00 AM Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Faith Original Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Allen Stanley.
Mr. Smith was born on May 12, 1935 in Robeson County to the late Fred and Madie Wilkins Smith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Wallace Smith; daughter, Wendy Langdon; siblings, Woodie, Plumie, Wade, Geneva, Malcolm, Marvin, Hazel, Elza, Bundy, David and Grady.
After his school years, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959 and ended his military career in the reserves. Prior to retirement, he was a technician with Public Service Gas and a farmer. He was a member of Faith Original Free Will Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. Mr. Smith was an inventor and held a patent for an alarm system, was a locksmith, and a beekeeper. He loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Surviving includes his sons, LeRoy Smith, Jr. and wife, Lynne of Currie and Mark Smith and wife, Tina of Clayton; grandchildren, Matthew Smith and husband, John, Jessica Smith, Alex Smith and wife, Shannon, and Jonathan Smith; great grandsons, Easton and Grayson Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Faith Original Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
