Linda Whitley Strickland, 84, of Smithfield, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield. Born December 11, 1940, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Leon Preston Whitley and Annie Lucille Woodard Whitley. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wilson Strickland; brother, Jimmy Whitley; and sister, Edna Whitley.

Linda leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and unwavering faith. Known for her outgoing personality and kind heart, Linda never met a stranger. Her warm smile and friendly spirit could light up any room, and her ability to connect with people made her cherished by all who knew her. A devoted Christian, Linda loved her church and the fellowship it brought her. She was a loving mother and sister who will be greatly missed.

Linda is survived by her son, Rodney Strickland; and sisters, Janice Hill, Clara Hocutt, and Kathy Smith (Richard).

Visitation will be held Monday, June 23, 2025, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Parrish Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 2:00pm, at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield. Flowers are welcome. Online condolences can be made at www.parrishfh.com.
