Benson, NC: Ms. Dorarene Beasley Bass, age 84, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Tuesday, March 27, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Randy Beasley. Burial will follow in the Young Family Cemetery in Benson.
Ms. Bass was born on June 21, 1938 in Sampson County, NC to the late Rovalton and Hattie McLamb Beasley. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Corbett Beasley and Henry Bass; sister, Doris Morgan and her brother, Valton Beasley. Ms. Bass retired from Johnson and Johnson where she worked as a lab technician. She was a member of Lee’s Grove Church. Ms. Bass loved being outdoors working in her gardens and loved her family deeply.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Beasley and wife, Lou Ann of Angier and Mike Bass and wife, Karen of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Megan Gurkin and husband, Walt, Sarah Bass and Morgan Bass; great grandchildren, Grayson Gurkin and Grady Gurkin; sister, Florene Johnson of Dunn; step brother, Z.M. Johnson of Pikeville; a life long friend, Melba Butler who shared many good times and laughter together.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 12:45PM to 1:45PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
