Loretta “Lucy” Renfrow Price

Loretta “Lucy” Renfrow Price, age 64, passed away peacefully at her home in the arms of her loving husband and daughters on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Born, May 16, 1961, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of Willie Johnson and the late Laverne Johnson.

Lucy was a devoted wife to her husband of 34 years, Gary Price. She was a proud and loving mother to her daughters, Holly Carter and husband Patrick, and Marcy Price. She is also survived by her cherished sisters, Angie Register (Daniel) and Cindy Brown (Steven), along with many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

Lucy’s hardworking spirit was evident throughout her career. She began as a secretary at Browns Dairy in Micro, NC, later served as a sales representative for Edy’s Ice Cream across eastern North Carolina, and ultimately retired as head secretary from Corinth Holders High School in 2022. Her colleagues and students knew her as dedicated, warm-hearted, and always ready to help.

A defining moment in Lucy’s life came on April 13, 1992, the day she gave her heart to Jesus Christ—an event she always described as one of her greatest accomplishments. She was a longtime member of Branch Chapel FWB Church and, in recent years, had begun worshipping at Temple City Church. Lucy loved her church family and eagerly served in many ministries, including VBS, choir, and children’s church. Her greatest passion was directing the Operation Christmas Child ministry, where she helped pack thousands of shoeboxes over the years. She treasured every letter she received from children around the world whose lives were touched by her efforts.

Lucy embraced every season of life with joy. In the spring she delighted in planting flowers around her home and feeding the hummingbirds that visited. She was an avid fan of North Carolina Tar Heels and Indiana Fever basketball. For over 35 years she enjoyed camping and annual beach trips with family and friends. She loved leading aerobics classes, participating in CrossFit, and collecting vintage Pyrex and antique dishes. No matter the occasion, Lucy found pure joy in preparing home-cooked meals for her family and for anyone who stepped through her door.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Temple City Church in Selma. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Lucy’s life was marked by faith, service, kindness, and an unwavering love for others. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her generous spirit, and the countless lives she touched.
