Princeton – Louise Wiggs Daughtry, age 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in UNC Johnston Health Hospital of Smithfield. Born, August 29, 1925, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late William Charlie Wiggs and Ophelia “Lula” Davis Wiggs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Percy Haywood Daughtry, siblings; Charles Wiggs, Kenneth Wiggs and Ruth Wiggs Eonta.
Louise was a long-time member of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Princeton. She served many roles in the church including Sunday School teacher, and the WMU. She worked for over 30 as assistant to Dr. Donnie H. Jones, providing medical care for the people of Princeton and surrounding areas. Louise won several medals while competing in the Senior games. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and an avid reader in her spare time. Louise also enjoyed traveling, quilting and crocheting things for others. Above all she loved her God and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Hephzibah Baptist Church in Princeton with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
She is survived by her children; Woody Daughtry (Wanda) of Kenly, Steve Daughtry (Pam) of Princeton, Charles Daughtry of Princeton; grandchildren, Haywood Daughtry (Dana), Stephen Daughtry, Laura Barnes (Dave), Joseph Daughtry (Amy), Logan Higgins (Isaiah), Andrew Daughtry, Aydan Daughtry; great-grandchildren Cy Daughtry (Haley), Michael Barnes (Lilly), Abby Daughtry, Kate Barnes, Luke Daughtry, Izzabella Horne, Riley Horne, Ezekiel Higgins and Amelia Higgins, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions may be sent to the Hephzibah Baptist Church Multi-Purpose Building Fund at 4633 US Hwy 70 E, Princeton, NC 27569.
