Marianne was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ben Merrill, and her children Cheryl Robertson and Wendy Dobson (husband Kevin).
Marianne also leaves behind her stepchildren, Ben Merrill Jr., Dan Merrill, and Jenny Williams, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Kellie Robertson, Connor Dobson, Hannah Dobson Christovich, Sean Dobson, Boone Williams, Jossie Williams, Trey Merrill, and Logan Merrill. Marianne was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Avick.
Professionally, Marianne was the co-founder of Rockin’ Comet Diner, where she made a significant impact in the community with her culinary expertise and warm personality.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Marianne will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at McLaurin Funeral Home & Pinecrest Memorial Park, 12830 Us 70 Business Hwy W, Clayton, North Carolina 27520. McLaurin Funeral Home is honored to be assisting Marianne’s family in arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lung Cancer Association in memory of Marianne.
So very sad. A great person. She touched so many hearts and will forever be missed. Always treated me with respect , a very solid and classy lady. Rest easy Marianne.
She taught me alot about Customer service..And we had some good laughs at the Diner…I will miss her
When I met Marianne, she rode her Harley around with Ben and was tough as nails. She and Ben were so kind to me as a teen. I worked for them at Rockin Comet for about 3 years and those memories will always be cherished. RIP Marianne. Sending love to the family and especially Ben. They just don’t make them like you anymore!
