Marie Ivey Ray

Smithfield – Marie Ivey Ray, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday January 20, 2026. She was born in Robeson County on April 15, 1936 to the late Durham and Janie Britt Ivey. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, David Maloy Ray; a daughter, Marie Annette Ray; sisters, Carolyn McKenzie, Rachel McGhee; brother, Eugene Ivey.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday January 22, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parrish Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Friday January 23, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

She is survived by her daughters, Renee Allen and husband Greg of Pine Level; Paulette Harris of Harbinger, Sheila Ray of Bryson City, NC; grandchildren, Dayna Allen, Chase Allen, Chris Ward, (Brad) Matthew Ward (Jennifer), Ricky Harris, Christy Jones, Greg Watson; great grandchildren – Cecili Ro(Simon), Dylan Ward, Kaytlyn Ward, Lia Ward, and Rylie Ward; many nieces and nephews.

Marie was a member of Unity FWB Church for many years and played an active role in the church and its ministries. She was always a patient lady that showed her kindness. A true dear friend to so many.

She enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds around her home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
