Marjorie Elizabeth Gilbert

Marjorie Elizabeth Weaver Gilbert, 85, of Roseboro, passed away early Friday, November 21, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 24, 1940 to the late John Washington Weaver and Rachel Catherine Cox Weaver.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Hubert Allen Gilbert; brother, John Earl Weaver; and sister-in-law, Dora Weaver-Orr.

Marjorie is survived and loved by her daughter, Sandra Cannady (Kenneth) of Clinton; nephews, Chris Weaver (Vickie) of Sheridan, Wyoming and Scott Weaver (Corinne) of Charlotte; and special lifelong friend, Joyce Piper of Raleigh.

She is also loved by many great nieces and great nephews.

Marjorie was a faithful member of Roseboro First Baptist Church for over 50 years, of which she watched and cared for the children of the church and always cooked for those in need. She was known for her caring personality and her willingness to help others.

Her family may have been small, but their love was unlimited. She and Hubert were a pair, and where one was, the other was right there with them. She assisted him on his Lance route, and helped him with anything he did. Her daughter, Sandra, was the apple of her eye and Marjorie taught her to love playing the piano and to dance.

She enjoyed crafting, needle point and crochet were some of her favorites. She also loved cooking and gardening, flowers being her favorite. She loved basketball and cheering for her Tar-Heels.

She was a devoted wife and the best Mama, and she will be greatly missed.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Roseboro First Baptist Church (3720 S. Salemburg Hwy, Roseboro, NC, 28382). Her Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Roseboro Cemetery. Reverends Hampton Faircloth and Dudley Neal will be officiating.
