Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Marjorie Mae Young Massengill, age 92, of Hwy 96 South passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at UNC Johnston Health in Clayton surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Rev. Sherwood Lassiter will officiate. Entombment will follow in Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Four Oaks.
Mrs. Massengill was born on November 27, 1931 in Johnston County to the late Rholandus and Ethel Phillips Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gideon Massengill, Jr.; and a brother, LeRoy Young. Mrs. Massengill was a beautician, farmer’s wife, and retired from UNC Johnston Health Hospital where she was a secretary. She loved working in her yards, gardening, and fishing at the beach.
Surviving include her children, Ricky Massengill of Four Oaks, Teresa Blackmon and husband, Ronnie of Four Oaks, Wanda Massengill and special friend, Ted Zuercher of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Wendy Grantham, Lee Byrd and husband, Travis, Megan Blackman and husband, John, Morgan Massengill, Meredith Young, and Miles Massengill; great-grandchildren, Emilee Byrd, Van Byrd, Jayden Blackman, Maverick Blackman, Mason Young; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
