At almost 98, Ethelene Westbrook Futch went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Ethelene was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, friends, church, and community.
She grew up around the Strickland’s Crossroads area where her grandparents were part of the original founders of Pauline Baptist Church. She was a lifelong member of Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church and was heavily involved with Mount Hermon Baptist Church upon moving to Durham, NC.
Ethelene found her passion working in the medical field for almost 30 years in various roles.
Ethelene was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Futch, parents, Ira Joyner and Ola Mae Adams (Jim), sister, Aileen (Henry) Westbrook, nieces, Faye and Brenda Westbrook, and nephew, Lawrence Westbrook. She leaves behind two daughters, Barbara Burge (Glenn) of Hope Mills and Jeanette Haynes of Raleigh, and a son, Kenneth Westbrook (Martha) of Newton Grove.
She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Christopher Haynes of Raleigh and Shirl Stamey (Derek) of Lillington, three step-grandchildren, Scott Burge (Liz) of Wilmington, Amy Sutton (William) of Clinton, and Lindsey Clifton (Justin) of Benson, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The service to honor and celebrate Ethelene’s life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, atMary’s Chapel Baptist Church, 2336 Keener Road, Clinton, NC 28328. Receiving of friends will be held at 11 am, and the funeral will be held at 12 pm, followed by burial held at Harnett Devotional Gardens, 5665 Fairground Road, Dunn, NC 28334.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church or Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
