Mary “Regina” Strandberg, 77, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Clayton, North Carolina. Born on July 10, 1948, in the Bronx, New York, Regina brought joy and laughter to all who knew her throughout her vibrant life. Regina was a devoted mother to her beloved son Joseph Keegan and daughter-in-law Jodi Keegan. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Bryson Keegan and Alexa Keegan, finding immense pride and happiness in their lives. Her deep love for family extended to her brothers and sister-in-laws Joseph and Yolanda Keegan, John and Joyce Keegan, Martin and Dolores Keegan, Michael and Fran Keegan and brother-in-law, Rick Cooper, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she shared close bonds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Melvina Keegan, and her beloved sister and best friend Valerie Cooper. The memory of their love remained close to Regina’s heart.

Regina had a zest for life that was infectious. She was known for lighting up every room she entered with her humor and warmth. Whether it was playing bingo, enjoying spirited card games, or simply sitting around talking during large family gatherings, Regina found joy in the company of those she loved. Family get-togethers were among her favorite times—filled with laughter, stories, and the unmistakable sound of her joyful presence.

She enjoyed her time spent volunteering at the gift shop at UNC Johnston of Smithfield, NC and her participation in the Ladies Guild at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Clayton, NC.

Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and connection. Regina was well loved by many and returned that love wholeheartedly. She embraced life with open arms and an open heart, always ready to share a smile or a joke. Her spirit will live on in the memories of those fortunate enough to have known her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Catholic Mass will be held in her honor on Monday, November 10 at 10am at the St. Peters Church 10 Liberty Street, Monticello, NY. Interment to follow at VanKuren Family Cemetery.
