    Mary Ruth Mitchell Bass, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 11, 2024 at Clarksville Health and Rehab in Clarksville, VA. She was born in Johnston County, NC on September 28, 1929 to the late Fred Lewis Mitchell and Bessie Jones Mitchell. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Bass; daughter, Merlon Evans; sister, Lois Wood; brothers, Charles Lewis (CL) Mitchell, Elbert Mitchell, James Davis (JD) Mitchell and Bobby Mitchell.

    The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday February 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Thursday in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens.

    She is survived by her daughter, Leisa Piccioti (Nick) of Princeton, NC; son, David Minchew (Peggy) of Buffalo Junction, VA; grandchildren, Fredalyn Gonzalez (Raul) of Princeton, NC, Eric Narron (Angie) of Selma, NC, Kevin Narron (Jennifer) of Princeton, NC, D. Brian Minchew (Karen) of Creedmoor, NC, Shannon Daniels (Ted) of San Antonio, TX, Ashley Gilbert (Dustin) of San Diego, CA, and twelve great grandchildren.

    Ruth was raised on the family farm and lived many years in the Princeton/Pine Level area. She attended service at Bizzell Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. Over the years, she worked several different jobs in clothing and upholstery. She was a wonderful seamstress who shared her talents with many in the family.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Clarksville Health and Rehab for the care provided to Ruth during her time there and also to the Sentara Hospice Services for the care during her last days.

    Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in honor of her memory.
