    Birth Date: 12/08/1952
    Deceased Date: 11/29/2024

Maurice Glenn Stanley, 71, passed at home on November 29, 2024. He was born December 8,1952 to Walter Kermit and Mary Beasley Stanley. He was one of 11 children to this union. Maurice retired from Sampson County Schools Transportation Department with 30+ years of service. He took much pride in making sure the students had a safe school bus to ride on each day. He made many friends along the way within the county school system.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Earl, Buck, Ray, Tommy, and Dennis. Survivors include his best friend and partner in crime, Mary Godwin Britt, daughters: Heather Lockamy (Bobby Joe) of Clinton and Christina Corbett (Steven) of Newton Grove; a son, Allen Britt (Brittney) of Newton Grove, grandchildren Alexia (Lexi) and Taylor Lockamy, Miles, Sadie, and Stevie Corbett, and Callen Britt, siblings; Jay Stanley of Four Oaks, Sue Fortner, Margie Hill, twin sister Marcia E. Smith and Wayne Stanley all of Clinton. Many nieces and nephews are also left to cherish his memory.

Maurice enjoyed building, repairing, and flying remote control airplanes. He could be found almost every Sunday afternoon (weather permitting) at the flying field near Keener. He was instrumental in establishing the Southeastern Model Aviators and was a charter member. Other days of the week he could be found eating breakfast at McDonald’s with friends, solving the world’s problems, and scratching a few lottery tickets.

He was a member of Oak Grove OFWB Church. He was recently honored with a supper for he and Mary’s contribution of cooking meals for 3 years as a fundraiser for the church. His diagnosis ended the suppers that many looked forward to each month.

A graveside service will be held 2:00PM- Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Warren-Oak Grove Cemetery, Warren Mill Road, Newton Grove, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Corky Herring and Rev. Lynn Epps. For those needing seating arrangements, please bring a chair. A visitation will be held immediately following at Oak Grove Church, 3311 Newton Grove Hwy, Newton Grove, NC 28366.

Special thanks for the best care that could be asked for from Rex Hematology and Oncology in Garner for over 2 years and 3HC in Clinton. Your skills and friendships helped make his journey the best.
