Melanie Harris Weisbeck, 56, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, passed away on October 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 23, 1969, to the late Peggy Harris and Henry Harris.

The family will receive visitors at First Presbyterian Church in Smithfield on Saturday October 10, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 AM on Saturday. A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Montlawn cemetery in Raleigh.

Melanie was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a quiet and gentle soul with a creative spirit and a strength that carried her through even the most difficult days.

She dedicated 30 years of her life to serving the state of North Carolina through the Department of Motor Vehicles. Her faith was a deeply important part of her life. Over the years, Melanie was a member of Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, Temple Baptist Church in Selma, and First Presbyterian Church of Smithfield. She faithfully served in each church during different seasons of her life and found a sense of community, purpose, and belonging through her faith and the people she worshiped alongside.

Melanie found joy in the simple things. She loved painting, experimenting with new baked goods in the kitchen, listening to music, and singing. Her creativity, kindness, and gentle nature were a reflection of the love she carried for those around her. She had a way of making an impact without ever needing to be the loudest person in the room.

Melanie is survived by her husband, Sidney Weisbeck; her son, Milo Weisbeck and his wife, Danielle; her brother, J. Allen Harris; and her stepsisters, Wanda Holbrook (Brad), Brenda McCandless (Bill), and Kathy Watson (Joe). She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, other extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Weisbeck; her brother, Glenn Harris; and her stepmother, Dot Harris.

Melanie fought a long and difficult battle with cancer. While her loss leaves an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, there is comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and is finally at peace. Her memory will live on through the people she loved, the lives she touched, and the countless moments that made her so special. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, North Carolina, to assist the family with funeral arrangements.
