Michael Ray Narron

Michael “Ray” Narron, 70, of Selma, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Ray was born on June 23, 1955, in Smithfield, North Carolina. He grew up simple, helping his family farm and learning important values that shaped him in his adulthood. In his early 20’s he was hired on at Square D and spent many years working as a maintenance mechanic, where his skill and dedication were well known. Truly, Ray could fix anything, and he took great pride in using his talents to help others whenever he could.

Outside of work, Ray had many passions. He was an excellent cook who loved sharing meals with family and friends. A devoted fan of the UNC Tar Heels, he never missed a chance to cheer them on. Ray was also an exceptional pool player, traveling to Las Vegas and Hawaii for competitions and proudly winning a championship in Hawaii with his teammates.

Ray was known for his selflessness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. His sense of humor and infectious smile could light up a room. Above all else, he deeply cared for his family. His greatest accomplishment and source of pride was being a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Ray will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his legacy of kindness, skill, and devotion to family and friends will live on.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Narron (Doug Crough); son, Stephen Narron (Kelly Narron); grandchildren, Tyra, Devon, and Jordan Crough; great-grandson, Cayden Bell; and sister, Carol Pollock. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who he loved and cared for deeply.

He was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his children, Martha Sue Martin; parents, Thomas Jefferson Narron and Gracie Lee Brown; stepmother, Mildred Eloise Watkins; and siblings, Barbara Grace Lee and Thomas “Larry” Narron.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 14th at 1pm at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, North Carolina with visitation following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741 in honor of Ray’s memory. Online condolences can be made at www.parrishfh.com.
