Funeral Mass will be held 1:00PM-Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Smithfield, NC. Father Peter Grace will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Cemetery in Newton Grove, NC.
Monica was born on September 30, 1976 in Harnett County, NC. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Eida Acosta Tijerina. Monica was a family education specialist with Telamon Corporation and was also a tutor with Johnston County Public Schools. She loved her family, animals, music, food and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Esteban Chavez; son, Esteban Chavez, Jr., daughter, Maria Chavez; father, Alejandro Marcos Tijerina; brother, Alejandro Tijerina and wife, Zoraida; sister, Esmeralda Hernandez and husband, Gabino; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC.
