Nancy Pounds Trogdon, age 87, died Friday evening, November 25, 2022, at UNC Johnston Health of Clayton. Born January 4, 1935 in Johnston County she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Gus and Nancy Dowless Pounds.
Surviving are her children; Fletcher Trogdon and his wife Shelia of Wilson’s Mills, Jeanette Mayo and her husband Dwight, Denise Johnson and her husband Randy, Harold Trogdon and his wife Cathy and Lee Trogdon all of Smithfield; eight grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings; Geneva, Melissa, Dorothy and Lawrence. Nancy was a member of Bakers Chapel Church near Princeton, but in her younger years, she was very active in the Church of God having started the Wilson’s Mills Church of God as well as singing and preaching in numerous local nursing homes. Her love for her Lord and her ministry, for Him, was very important to her. Something else that was very important to her was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her brother and sisters, her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene DeWitt, The Rev. Jimmy Lambert and her son, Rev. Harold Trogdon officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. prior to the 6:00 p.m. service.
A committal service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Price Cemetery, Selma, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Bakers Chapel Church, 1983 Bakers Chapel Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
