Nora Strickland White

Nora Strickland White, age 89, of Dunn, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2026 while at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on January 3, 1937 in Sampson County, NC to her parents, the late Wilbert Hawley and Hettie Belle Hobson Hawley.

In addition to her parents, Nora is preceded in death by her husbands, Sherrill Strickland, and Thad White; then later, special companion, C. L. Upchurch.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Nora was a very experienced, accomplished seamstress and owned her own business. She was also a talented southern home cook always preparing home cooked foods with great love for those who would partake of her “country fixings”. She also enjoyed catering.

She was a member of the Lee’s Chapel Church at Plainview for many years.

Though Nora had no children, she was a “mother” and “grandmother” to almost everyone she knew. Her nieces and nephews were very special to her and she loved them as her own.

Nora was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab Center who provided exemplary care to Nora.

Services will be held at the Lee’s Chapel Church located at 4948 Plain View Hwy, Dunn, NC 28334 on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm, funeral at 3:00 pm, and burial following at the Williford cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mens Fellowship and the Circle at the Lees Chapel Church.
