Pauline Wheeler James, age 97, of Smithfield, passed away on July 5, 2022. Born in Johnston County on December 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Kinsie and Flora Barbour Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James; her children, Harold Eugene Caldwell, Jr. and Linda Caldwell; and her siblings, Kinsie Wheeler, Jr., Thomas Wheeler and Eugene Wheeler.
Mrs. James was an active member and Sunday School Teacher at the Smithfield Church of God as long as her health permitted. She retired from Burlington Mills in Smithfield.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 2-3 pm at the Smithfield Church of God followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.
Surviving are two brothers, James Wheeler of Durham and Larry Wheeler of Fayetteville and sister-in-law Yvonne (Bonnie) Wheeler.
